• Community Consultation for the Aboriginal Music Program

The Indian & Metis Friendship Centre, 45 Robinson Street, Winnipeg

Manitoba Music is hosting a community consultation to help shape the future of the Aboriginal Music Program. Aboriginal artists working in any and all genres of music are encouraged to attend. The half-day session will begin at 12pm on Saturday, February 5, 2011. It will be held at the Indian and Métis Friendship Centre (45 Robins...on Street) in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

This community consultation will be the third and final step in a strategic planning process for Manitoba Music’s Aboriginal Music Program. The organization will use the information collected at this session to shape the guiding principles for the program and develop future projects and services.

The Aboriginal Music Program is designed to help Aboriginal people develop sustainable careers in Manitoba’s music industry. The program is a first for Canada’s music industry and was launched April 1, 2004. It utilizes Manitoba Music’s established networks, resources and services as a foundation with which to provide additional support and profile for Aboriginal music industry workers in Manitoba.
